Fountain pens
are the oldest type of pens, used from the Renaissance
period. But this is generally not used by
everyone today, it is mostly considered as luxury items and even as a symbol of
status. But for some official works like signing important documents these pens are still used.
When we were
kids we are often told by our parent that if we start writing with fountain pen
we’ll have a good handwriting. Not
everyone can afford to buy a fountain pen in today’s time, many even consider
collecting them. Here are some tips that will keep our fountain pen working for
a longer period of time:
Correct time for buying them
Before buying fountain pen from any
brand we should definitely compare them. Generally,
at the beginning of the month or year,
many companies tend to increase the price of the pen. Hence it always better to
buy fountain pens during the month end. A gold tip pen is always costlier than
the silver tip, so if your budget is low
we should go for silver one.
Kinds Nib and their uses
The most important part of a
fountain pen that makes it different from any other kind of pen is the nib. A
fountain pen nib is mainly round pointed of different sizes, but there are
various other types also like oblique, italic, stub etc. One fountain pen can
be used for several purposes just by changing the nib. There are many companies
which sell sets of different kinds of nibs. For writing or signing purpose round
pointed tip nib is idle. For calligraphy purpose, blunt and broader nibs are used. These can work as a highlighter as well if highlighting inks are used.
To last your pen whose cap is made of plastic for a longer time the open end of the cap can be wrapped with a tape as
soon as you buy it from shops.
Refilling the pen
Instead of buying new pens once
the ink is over we can just refill it, by this way you can use your favorite
one for a longer period of time. There
should be a proper way of refilling the Ink Cartridges. Bottled inks are much more economical
than plastic cartridges. For refilling purpose you need a blunt tip needle
bottle or a dropper and obvious ink in a
bottle. Refilling the pen is much easier than it seems.
